Long-term methotrexate appears safe in arthritis

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - In adults who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis (RA), long-term treatment with methotrexate (MTX) appears safe, according to pooled data from 88 studies of patients with RA treated with only MTX for at least 2 years.

Link Between Common Antibacterial Treatment And Sensorineural Hearing Loss In Cystic Fibrosis Patients

An otherwise effective treatment for cystic fibrosis places patients at a high risk of sensorineural hearing loss, according to new research published in the July edition of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide).

Pregnancy Rates Unaffected By Single Thawed Embryo Transfer After PGD

Transferring just one embryo at a time to a woman's womb after embryos have undergone preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and freezing at the blastocyst stage has become a real option after researchers achieved pregnancy rates that were as good as those for blastocysts that had not had a cell removed for PGD before freezing.
